Lorient put in an impressive performance to beat Rennes 2–1 in the Ligue 1 2022/23 and return to winning ways. They did not dominate possession but managed to frustrate Rennes‘ attack on the counter. The win puts Lorient in sixth place with 35 points, just one spot behind Rennes, who are now in fifth with 37 points.
