Marseille vs Annecy – Betting Preview
On Wednesday night, Marseille will host Annecy at the Orange Velodrome for their Coupe de France quarterfinal match.
Les Rouges advanced to the same round of the competition on February 8 after a thrilling 6-5 penalty shootout victory over Paris FC at the Stadium Charlety. Igor Tudor’s team defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 to earn their place in the final eight.
Marseille Preview
Marseille are seeking their 11th Coupe de France trophy in the tournament’s 106-year history, but a first since the turn of the century.
After losing to the defending champions 3-0 at the Orange Velodrome, Les Phoceens are now in second place in the Ligue 1 rankings, eight points behind Paris Saint-Germain.
Up until their setback on Sunday night, Marseille had only lost twice in their previous 13 league games, both times against the league-leading OGC Nice and Christophe Galtier’s team in front of their home fans during the month of February.
As they go ready for their first-ever head-to-head matchup against Annecy, Marseille will be hopeful that they can defeat their lower-league opponents and advance to the Coupe de France semifinals for the first time since the 2015–16 competition.
With only 14 winners so far With Marseille having won the most prestigious knockout competition in French football 10 times more often than Paris Saint-Germain, Tudor’s team will be motivated to close that gap starting with Wednesday’s game.
Annecy Preview
Contrary to their seasoned Coupe de France champion hosts, Annecy is attempting to record their first-ever overall victory in the event.
In the Ligue 2 rankings, Laurent Guyot’s team is in 10th place, 12 points behind Sochaux, who hold the final promotion spot, but more significantly, only nine points above the congested relegation zone.
Les Rouges’ preparations for their biggest game of the 2022–23 season were made a little bit more difficult on Saturday when they were defeated 5-1 at the Auguste Bonal by championship contenders Sochaux.
Annecy qualified for the quarter-finals after emerging victorious over fellow Ligue 2 outfit Paris FC on penalties, following the conclusion of extra time!
