When betting on Monaco feels better than going to the bank after eight straight Ligue 1 victories, and we don’t anticipate that to change when they take on Brest in Monte Carlo this weekend.

Phillipe Clement’s team will be fired up to play a team that defeated them 2-0 in Brittany back in October. They are close enough to steal second place from Marseille.

Brest had a fantastic season and to finish with anything close to 50 points must be hailed as a great accomplishment after barely making it out of danger last season.

Last weekend, Strasbourg ended the Pirates’ three-game winning streak at home, snapping their season-high for goals, goals against, and points.

Although their defence has been much stronger this season, they don’t appear to be capable of producing many goals. Any lack of aggression will be problematic against Monaco, who have kept eight clean sheets in their last 17 Ligue 1 contests under Clement’s leadership.

The current winning streak for Les Monagasques started with a 3-0 demolition of PSG at Stade Louis II. Since then, they have defeated Troyes, Nice, and Angers as strong home favourites while allowing just one goal in each of those victories.

However, Brest’s track record of scoring on the road, where they have done so in five of their last six away games, is dissuasive, and it prompts us to play it safe with a recommendation for Monaco to win but by a less margin.

1×2 Betting Odds

We predict a victory for the home team because Brest has lost multiple goals on the road to five of the current top six clubs in the standings, and their only victory on the road against the elite came in a 2-1 victory at Marseille in December.

And the betting market agrees!

Monaco playing in front of their home crowd, are the favourites to win this @ 1.55.

Brest who have a poor record against the elites of Ligue 1 are the underdogs in this @ 6.50.

The possibility of a stalemate and points shared, stands @ 5.10.

Total goals over/under

The odds that the total number of goals scored will be over 2.5, stands @ 1.58.

While the odds that the total number of goals will be under 2.5, stands @ 2.54.

The market believes this game to have a few goals in it because of the gap in quality between the two sides.

Monaco, who have been fantastic all season will be excepted to win here with a comfortable margin!
