According to a report from Le Parisien published tonight, Paris Saint-Germain will continue to search for a striker during the upcoming January transfer window, with Joao Félix of Atlético Madrid emerging as a potential target.

The league leaders still intend to sign a player who can play as an all-out number nine in order to get the best performance out of Kylian Mbappé despite having missed out on Robert Lewandowski and Gianluca Scamacca over the summer.

This tactical consideration has been at the core of the Frenchman’s rumoured desire to leave the club just months into his new contract.

Luis Campos, the club’s athletic advisor, is interested in loaning out his fellow countryman.

Félix made his €126 million transfer to Spain in 2019 and has since made 128 appearances for the Colchoneros, scoring 32 goals in total.

With Hugo Ekitike still settling in and Pablo Sarabia failing to impress up front, his arrival would also enable the defending Champions to provide some relief for the prolific Lionel Messi-Neymar-Mbappé trident.

According to rumors, Félix himself is intrigued by the prospect of joining PSG.

PSG could replace Mbappe with Neymar’s friend

If Kylian Mbappe follows through on his intention to leave the club, Paris Saint-Germain do not want to be left behind.

The French club is already looking at replacement candidates in light of this.

Although it would be nearly impossible to find another player of comparable calibre, PSG has some names in mind.

Neymar Jr.’s international teammate Richarlison appears to be the most well-liked so far.

The Brazilian forward would be open to switching from the Premier League to Ligue 1, according to the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old only joined Spurs in the summer after leaving Everton in a deal that could have cost the Toffees up to $60 million.

Richarlison has been on the radar of the Parisian club for some time and at one stage the idea was to sign him in the summmer just gone.

However, in the end, Mbappe stayed and the operation was postponed.

PSG might rekindle their interest in Richarlison if Mbappe’s future is once again in doubt.

However, Spurs would undoubtedly demand an absurd sum of money for the Brazilian.
