PSG started this season with solid intentions by signing many new players. Nice’s previous five games resulted in victories for them. These victories came against Metz, Nantes, Brest and Lens in the Ligue 1 and  1-0 win over Cholet in the French Cup. Nice scored ten goals in the five matches combined while only allowing three in return. They have scored 36 goals in the Ligue 1 this season, ten less than PSG and conceded the same amount as PSG.

In the last five meetings between these two, PSG won three and the other two matches ended in a draw. Surprisingly, PSG scored seven goals in two games when they visited them, and while hosting, they only scored three goals.
