PSG vs Toulouse – Betting Preview

Les Parisiens won their second game of the year on Wednesday, resuming their league season after two early penalty misses and some injury concerns.

Even though they ultimately prevailed deservedly, there were some worrying moments along the way. For example, Kylian Mbappe was substituted in the first half due to what appeared to be a hamstring injury, even if his manager Christophe Galtier later stated that it did not look to be serious!

PSG Preview

PSG have not appeared nearly as powerful in this competition since the domestic campaign resumed after the World Cup ended, winning just 10 points in their previous six games.

Three of their previous four league games saw them keep a clean sheet in the first half, but they also gave up goals with less than five minutes left on consecutive occasions.

The defending French champions have dominated newly promoted teams in this league, going unbeaten in 31 straight Ligue 1 games against them; their only loss occurred in May 2010 against Montpellier.

PSG has scored in each of their domestic games played in Paris this season, and they haven’t dropped a Ligue 1 match at the Parc des Princes since losing 1-0 to Lille in April 2021!

Toulouse Preview

A little more than a month into 2023, a new Toulouse team that is full of self-assurance has already won 13 of a possible 15 league points this season.

This is a stark contrast to their domestic performance near the conclusion of 2022, when they lost their final four Ligue 1 games, including a 6-1 thrashing at Marseille to close the season.

Three of the five league games they played in January were against teams near the bottom of the standings, three of which are now in the relegation zone (Ajaccio, Auxerre, and Strasbourg), with the other two being only one point above that mark (Brest and Troyes).

As three of their next four league games are against teams now ranked in the top five, they should encounter several difficult opponents in February (PSG, Marseille and Rennes)!

1X2 Betting Odds

Les Parisiens have been at their best at home, so we anticipate them to win easily this weekend. PSG hasn’t given up in five straight games against Les Violets, and even though they may rest some of their star players ahead of their upcoming Cup de France and Champions League matches, we expect them to win easily this weekend!

They are the favourites to win here with market odds standing @ 1.33.

Toulouse FC’s last away win against Paris Saint-Germain was in 2008. And given their market odds which stand @ 10.00, that winless streak in Paris should continue in all probability!

So perhaps a draw is the best chance that the away side might have of taking something away here, and the odds of that happening stands @ 6.50.

Total goals over/under

The odds that the total number of goals scored will be over 2.5, stands @ 1.46.

While the odds that the total number of goals will be under 2.5, stands @ 2.95.

Unsurprisingly, PSG are the highest-scoring outfit in Ligue 1, while they have kept only two clean sheets in their last nine league assignments.

On the other hand, Toulouse have notched in 100% of their eight games since the campaign’s return.

So Given the quality and talent that PSG has compared to their opposition, and considering everything else, the home side should be able to claim all three points here, and they should be able to do it with ease!
